Our mission at Be Ahead of the Game is to provide opportunities for movement, sports, games, and FUN to children of all ages. We believe that teaching children the value of physical fitness at a young age instills healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

BAOTG founder Brian Kelly has been a coach and physical education teacher for over 15 years. He works with children of all ages, from preschool through college.  Brian offers exercise programs in numerous area preschools, elementary schools, after-school programs and rec centers. He also coaches soccer for a number of organizations throughout Massachusetts including Mass Youth Soccer, Newton Youth Soccer, Delta Football Club, and recently signed on with FC Greater Boston Bolts.  Brian also served as the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach for Mount Ida College for 3 seasons. In 2006 Brian was named "Number One Soccer Tutor" by Boston Globe Magazine.  Brian holds a B.A. in Biology from Plymouth State University and is a member of the National Sports and Conditioning Association and the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association.  He earned his National Diploma in June 2011 from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Mike Almeida has been with Be Ahead of the Game for two years and currently directs Tennis and Soccer camps and clinics. Mike is a senior at Mount Ida College majoring in Psychology and minoring in Child Development and English. Mike played soccer his first two years at Mount Ida as a starter and was also a varsity soccer player at his two high schools, Bishop Stang and Dartmouth High School. He played for travel clubs including Noreaster, Rexclub and ScSporting. Mike is CPR and first aid certified, holds a MYSA G Coaching License and is a MYSA E candidate.

Ian Kilpatrick runs programs for kids of all ages at Be Ahead of the Game and is also an athletic trainer for the Competitive Athletic Training Zone (CATZ) in Needham. Ian received his BS in Sport Management from UMass Amherst where he trained with the varsity basketball team for 3 years while obtaining his degree. At Newton North High School he played varsity basketball and was team captain his senior year. Ian also worked as a special education aide at Franklin Elementary School in Newton for two years.  His specialty is basketball clinics and personal/small group trainings.  Ian is CPR and first aid certified.

John Carver-Gustin has been working for Be Ahead of the Game since 2009. He runs Creative Movement and Introduction to Sports classes, as well as flag football clinics and private/small group athletic trainings.  John graduated from Springfield College with a degree in Sport & Recreation Management. He enjoys working with all types of kids, playing all types of games, and most importantly having a lot of fun! John is also a NASM certified personal trainer and fitness enthusiast and is CPR and first aid certified.

Shaun McBrien has coached soccer for over ten years in both Ireland and the U.S. He was an  Irish FA County Coach, and more recently the Southeast (MA) Regional Director with Paul Turner’s Ultimate Soccer Academy as well as Academy Director at Crusaders United Soccer Club in Plymouth, MA. Shaun currently serves as Assistant Director of Coaching for Newton Girls Soccer. Originally from Bangor, Northern Ireland, Shaun received a BSc Hons in Sport Studies and a Diploma in Industrial Studies from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland. He is a former Club, High School and College soccer player with UUJ in Northern Ireland, and he holds the following coaching degrees: UEFA B License, NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Goalkeeper Diploma Level 1 & 2, Irish FA Youth Coach Level 1, 2 and 3, Youth Level Qualifications in Tennis, Gaelic Football, Rugby & Cricket.

Antoine Moiboueyi brings over twelve years’ coaching experience from around the east coast, including the College of the Holy Cross and the United Military Academy at West Point. He was also a four year player at Plymouth State College. In his spare time he enjoys playing any sport and watching comedy. Antoine aims to see some of his players compete professionally!



Devin Nwanagu joined Be Ahead of the Game in Fall 2012 and brings three years of coaching experience. Devin graduated from Trinity College, CT with a BS in Economics and minor in Philosophy. She played on the Trinity Women’s Soccer team and was a Co-Captain her senior year. She received the following awards: League Rookie of the Year, 1st and 2nd team recognition, and MVP for her team. Devin attended Noble and Greenough High School in Dedham, Mass. and played on the Varsity team. She also played club soccer for Charles River United (CRU) for 11 years. Devin is CPR certified and holds a MYSA E coaching license.

Maralene Zwarich has worked with children both in the classroom and on all sports fields/courts.  She loves to play games and sports and knows what an impact sports can have on a child at any age.  Maralene has a talent for getting even the shyest kids up and having fun.  She was a multi-sport athlete throughout high school playing basketball, volleyball, soccer, and running track.  She went on to play Division I basketball and volleyball at Northeastern University.   Graduating in 2007, she holds both a Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and a Masters in Education.  After college she stretched her skills even farther and took her basketball talents overseas to play professionally in 5 different countries.  Maralene is also a certified CrossFit Coach and is CPR and First Aid Certified.

Victor Rosario brings a competitive but friendly energy to all recreational programs at BE AHEAD OF THE GAME. Victor is a Newton native who excelled at various sports throughout his youth and high school career. He is currently a senior at UMass Boston majoring in Business and Communications. Victor is CPR and First Aof certified, and holds his Soccer coaching E license.
