Mission Statement - The Newton Parks, Recreation & Culture Department will provide traditional and innovative Recreation, Leisure and Cultural Activities in a quality environment for all residents of Newton, as well as managing the preservation, maintenance, and enhancement of the natural resources of the City.

Newton Park and Rec will be offering  specialty camps at Emerson Community Center the week of August 19 - 23 and August 26 - 30.  

Each specialty camp offering runs Monday through Friday and is a half day program that runs for 3 hours each day.  Morning specialty camps run from 8:30 - 11:30 am.  Afternoon specialty camps run from 12:30 - 3:30 pm.  Children signed up for both a morning and an afternoon specialty camp can bring a lunch and stay with camp staff in between the two programs to make a full day camp from 8:30 - 3:30. 

We will offer an Add Extended Day option from 3:30 - 5:30 pm for families that need it.  Campers must be registered for an afternoon specialty program in order to add the extended day.  Campers staying for extended day will participate in playground, gym, arts & crafts, inside games and other general camp activities.

This program is a combination of games and sports such as soccer, kickball, and t-ball, as well as non-traditional games like capture the flag and pin-guard. It will ease children into learning the basics of all these great games as well as teaching them the importance of team work!   A great way to meet new friends and to have fun!
